The Elm Chanted Forest (1986, Animated)

After an artist named Peter Palette takes a nap under an enchanted elm tree, he discovers that he now has the ability to communicate with the animals of the forest, and that his paintbrush now has magical powers. To help his new friends survive, he must use his abilities to stop the evil Cactus King from turning the forest into a desert.

Many people, even those animated, can't (or won't) see the Forest for the Trees, so "get rid of the trees, and there will be no more forest", or so is the thought anyway. In Human or any other "civilization" there are those that know for "absolute certain" what the FACTS really are, whether or not Reality says (or does) otherwise.

(In other words, the "Elm Chanted Forest" is much, much more than the evil Cactus King (or anyone else) may be able to destroy. This (or any other) world has much more "magic and mystery" than will ever be added to nor subtracted from.
